“The restraint of the modifications of the mind-stuff is Yoga.” — Patanjali
Translation: Practicing awareness of & restraining our minds from altering anything
(i.e. situations) is the practice of Yoga (Union with the Divine).
Greetings & Blessings 🙏
We are in the 1st day of Navaratri now until the 28th. Navaratri is an auspicious period of time, recognized by the Vedic/Sanskrit wisdom. In short, it is a time where spiritual endeavors are divinely supported and more impactful because they are astrologically supported. It is a time to honor Divine Mother with offerings & spiritual practices like meditation and paying close attention to how we walk on our Mother Earth. Let us kiss the Earth with our steps & all that we do with mindful consumption, repurposing & mindful plastic usage (5 simple suggestions at bottom).

PSA: This has become a mantra for me when life is challenging:
Patience, Surrender, Acceptance
My reflection on the zeitgeist:
Most of us spend a good amount of time daily looking at screens, especially for internet & virtual connection/social media. I notice myself being on screens a lot more lately especially because I have begun to utilize social media to connect with the world. While being on social media simply to post something it’s so easy to fall into the trap of bait-click material and they know just what to put in front of you to entice you.
I believe this is an especially important time to be mindful of how we spend our time. Hopefully we practice living in balance to serve our overall well-being, which has become more challenging with all of the choices and information the world has for us now.
At one point I made a vow to give myself quarterly vacations and had forgotten about that for the past few years. I remember how taking that time off and away from my norm served me thriving in life when I came back to my norm. Even though most vacations are full of things to do, it was always like a well-ness overhaul & period of rest for my Being.
I resolve to giving myself that recharge time again because I see it as integral to living a healthy, joyful & balanced life.
Let’s take time to rest and allow space between the events of life. When things move so quickly it can be hard to maintain our bearings unless we make a choice to give ourselves that space & time.
As a society we have become numb to the content we choose to take in on a regular basis and the ripple effects of what that does in our psyche & physiology. For example; watching a typical action or “hero” movie where the “good” guys are killing the “bad” guys has become so common and normal that a lot of people don’t see the connection to the violence in our living world and how that’s reflected in the media. Our movie theaters have become full of horrific movies that do not serve us thinking or feeling well.
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
I believe our most powerful vote is what we spend our money on:
Supply & demand.
The cure for hate is love.
The more we practice patience, surrender & acceptance with ourselves & loved ones the easier it becomes to do the same with the world at large. This is key especially with those we disagree with. You cannot force anyone to truly receive something they don’t want, so it’s a waste of energy & time to try to convince others of the righteousness of our viewpoints. Seeking reinforcement of our views externally does not serve our sovereignty or empowerment. Ideally we are open to sharing & establishing mutual understanding rather than just wanting to be heard. Understanding does not mean agreement, it denotes a willingness to be objective and hopefully empathize. The more we practice living from love & compassion for ourselves, the more authentic & graceful those qualities can flow into our lives in every way.
Let’s co-create a world in which the driving force is Love & Compassion 🙂
